This is really neat. Some teams use it including the Vikes and Eagles. It can monitor the heat in your body for like heat strokes or something.

Interesting "heat pill"

Retired from DM : Thanks for the memories.

Clever idea, considering all the people that have been seriously injured or died in the past few years at NFL and NCAA training camps due to the heat.

I saw this during the NFL Network's chronicles of the Jacksonville Jaguars training camp in 2004. Pretty cool technology. Anything to prevent another Korey Stringer incident. Frown

Thomas Herrion had died, another incident...It seems like they can't prevent another Stringer incident.

They haven't released what he died of yet. It might be from the heat, but thats just a stereotypical guess.

They were playing in Denver (against the Broncos) too, where the temperature was cooler. I'm pretty sure I read it was in the 60's at night.

However, it could of been the mile high air.

I read that heat stroke can occur even in cold temperatures.

Yeah, same here, but I think it also has to do with the thin (or is it thick?) air in Denver. For all we know, he could've had some weird disease that we didn't know about.

It's thin air Wink

But, no, I seriously doubt it based upon what I've heard. His coaches in the past have said he was extremely healthy for his body type, and in college and stuff he kept up with all of his teammates in the intense drills and didn't get exhausted easily.

Heat Stroke is my guess, since it happened so abruptly. One second excited about the team's end of the game, the next, he's dead Frown Very unfortunate.

Yeah, I was in Denver, and when I walked 10 miles in a day, spread out over 6, 7 hours, after I was acclimated, and remember I'm in pretty good physical condition, I was beat tired. I could see this happen.

I saw this and I was shocked. I thought another NFL player passing away!?!? It's sad to see him go. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Things like this (Herrion passing) will always happen as long as the NFL does nothing to help players.

Players over 300 lbs. are ofcourse going to be more at risk of such things.

Shame.

Being as heavy as Stinger and Herrion their hearts must be really getting some wear and tear. Takes a lot of work when your that size!
